Man Dies After Jeep Crashes Into Bus Stop In Ha
HAMDEN, CT A 57-year-old Hamden man died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle while inside a bus stop enclosure early Wednesday morning, Capt. Ronald Smith said in an update. He has not been identified and police are trying to identify his next of kin, Smith said. Another man was also hospitalized after the crash and the driver was arrested.
Hamden police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street around 5 a.m. on the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Smith said a preliminary investigation found that a vehicle operated by Pinky McBurrows was traveling northbound on Dixwell Avenue.
The vehicle crossed over the southbound lanes of Dixwell Avenue and struck a bus stop enclosure that was occupied by two people. The two men that were inside of the bus stop enclosure suffered serious injuries, including one that was life-threatening, according to Smith. Hamden Fire Rescue responded and provided medical assistance. The victims, Hamden residents ages 57 and 59, were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
McBurrows ran from her vehicle immediately after the crash and was quickly apprehended by Officer Elvin Rivera, Smith said. She was taken to police headquarters.标签：
